What is an SR22 insurance filing?
An SR22 insurance filing is a special form that the Department of Motor Vehicles requires to reinstate your license after a license suspension. This form can only be issued by insurance companies and their licensed representatives. Click for Your Free SR22 Quote Right Here.
Do I need an SR22?
If you're here reading this, then you probably need an SR22. Has your driver's license been suspended by the DMV? Have you been arrested for: DUI, reckless driving / wet-reckless, hit & run, or a major violation such as speeding over 100mph? Have you the police cited you for too many moving violations in the last 36 months? Have you been involved in a motor vehicle accident in which you did not have valid liability insurance? If you have answered yes to any of these questions, chances are greater than 99.9% that you need an SR22 insurance filing. If you are unsure, just call the DMV and ask if you need an SR22 filing.
How much can I expect to pay for SR22 insurance?
Just like regular auto insurance, there are many factors that are used to determine sr22 insurance rates. If you have purchased auto insurance before you know the drill, but for those of you who this is their first experience the main factors are: your driving record (including violations, accidents & suspensions), the insurance coverages you select (the more coverage, the higher the premium), years as a licensed driver (age is not as big of a factor), one way mileage to work, miles driven annually, how you use your vehicle (pleasure, commute, business use), type of vehicle, zip code where you live, marital status, etc. The more thorough you are when entering your information, the more accurate your quote will be. At McKenna SR22 Insurance Services, we always strive to provide you with accurate quotes. Remember that when you sign up for insurance, the insurance company will most definitely pull your motor vehicle record and history. Don't wait any longer, you can know how much it costs in less than 3 minutes. Quote and Compare SR22 Insurance Filing Rates.
Can I get an SR22 Filing without buying liability insurance?
No, you must purchase at least the minimum limit of liability insurance required by the state in order to get your SR22 filing.
Can I get an SR22 from my current insurance company?
It's possible, but not likely. Most auto insurance companies do not provide insurance for drivers who have a major violation(s), excessive tickets, or a license suspension. If your current insurance carrier is willing to file an SR22 for you, they will usually non-renew the policy when the current term comes to an end (or in the event that they decide to keep you, they typically charge an auto insurance premium that is excessive.) Don't pay to much. Get Your Free SR22 Quote Right Here.
What happens if I let my SR22 Insurance cancel?
Don't let this happen! Insurance companies are required by the state to notify the DMV if you let your sr22 insurance cancel. If you do decide to let the policy cancel, the insurance company promply advises the DMV which results in a fresh suspension to your driver's license. Any license suspension stays on your motor vehicle record for a full 36 months from the end date (not the effective date) of a license suspension. It is not advisable to add more issues to your driving record with subsequent license suspensions, which can only compound your difficulties by: getting caught driving while suspended (a major violation), the impounding of your vehicle, or getting in an uninsured accident; all of which result in more headaches and increased insurance rates. We encourage all of our clients to move this bill near the top of thier priority list as failing to pay this premium has such dramatic negative results if left unpaid. Make your life easy and set this sr22 insurance up for automatic withdrawl so you don't risk missing a payment by mistake.
